Mondo Las Vegas:
More about UNLV campus:If you are staying in town for a longer visit and want to get away from the strip, this is a great campus to wander around in. The first commencement ceremonies did not take place until 1964, so you can imagine that much of the campus architecture was built up in the 1960s and 1970s. The first classroom and administration building on campus, Maude Frazier Hall (1956-7) is quintessential Modernism from the outside. And the Flora Dungan Humanities (1972) building is an especially outstanding example of Post Modernism with International and Brutalist influence in concrete. Both of these buildings and a few other 1960s structures are off Maryland Parkway on the east side of campus. On campus is the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History (1960 with a later addition). There is also a great 'giant object' sculpture called the Flashlight by Claes Oldenburg (1981) on the northeast corner of campus.
