Mondo Las Vegas:
More about Desert Passage at the Aladdin:Surprisingly enough, this is one of my favorite shopping malls on the strip. Why you may ask? Because of the most convenient parking (third floor of the parking structure. There is no casino to trudge through and they have all the basic mall stores you could wish for, including a Hilo Hatties, Z Gallerie, Sur La Table and Aveda. Urban Outfitters has been threatening to open up here someday. They also have the island theme Cheeseburger in Paradise which serves decent veggie burgers. And for the fancier nights a Commander's Palace (ala the famous one in New Orleans) Being at the Aladdin, the theme of course is Meditarranean with a very non-oppressive open air feeling. There is a public market complete with a fountain and 85-foot-high tower. What makes this mall especially interesting is the non-typical kiosks with handmade pottery and hookas. The 'featured attraction' of this mall is Merchant's Harbor, where a 155-foot-long ship is docked and a cheesy rain storm falls from the ceiling every half-hour on weekends. On peek weekends, they used to have street performers from 1:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Thursday - Monday.. Not sure if they still do this, but they had acrobats, musicians and jugglers in the 'Desert Passage' theme. Finally for the nightlife seekers, the Krave nightclub is here. The mall stores are open Sunday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight. Restaurants, clubs and some store hours vary. You can wander around and look at the architecture 24/7.
