More about Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens:

Bellagio says it best...

"Just beyond Bellagio's gracious lobby lies the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, a kaleidoscope for your senses. You'll want to take a moment to appreciate the intricate detail blooming before your very eyes. Submerge your soul in this magnificent garden abounding in fragrance, texture and color. Row upon row of exotic plants and flowers weave a glorious tapestry displaying the unique highlights of every season and holiday. There's no more inviting location for a photo opportunity. Take advantage of this unique setting and create a moment to cherish for years to come."

Approximately 14,000 square feet of elaborate floral displays imported from all over North America and beyond that change seasonally under a 55 foot tall glass ceiling.

The current Executive Director of Horticulture Audra Danzak oversees a staff of 129 who design and maintain the space. Every day 24 people are on site to feed, water and replace plants when necessary. Behind the scenes, there is a 27,000 square foot greenhouse. Only 3 trees are permanently planted in the atrium. See if you can figure out which ones?

The exhibit changes roughly five times a year: Chinese New Year, Spring Celebration, Summer Garden Party, Harvest Show and Holiday Show. Each exhibit usually features unique water features like dancing choreographed fountains, hanging glass sculptures and oversized Rose Parade float-like decorations. The scariest ones are the giant floral Huck Finn children that show up to fish in the stream in the summertime. The giant floral penguins, et. al are much more palatable. The Chinese New Year is especially wonderful to experience as a 'Westerner.' There are often giant floral firecrackers, hundreds of orchids and sometimes a koi pond!

Part of the Bellagio 24 hour café overlooks the garden on the edge. And it's right off the Bellagio parking lot - so it's easy to find. Pick up a guide to the Conservancy at the hotel concierge or front desk while they have supplies (usually about two weeks after the season opens).

The conservatory is open 24 hours day, so I like to wander through this are later at night or very early morning when you are fighting the throngs of crowds who flock to see this excellent and FREE display.
